I go to a lot of concerts in L.A., living just north of there. I basically get in, do my thing, & get out. But there are a lot of places for concerts! Tourist stuff is just not my thing. I love the art museums too, though.

Not that great, but its so well-known and contains many things that are of little historical value but have somehow become important.

I’ve just returned to Houston after a FANTASTIC trip to LA. The weather was beautiful, the culture was everywhere, the food was excellent, as was the shopping. Sushi at Katsuya…dining and shopping at the Grove…breakfast or lunch at the Farmer’s Market at the Grove…a hike up a hill…a trip through the fashion district. Have a friend who lives there take you around…they’ll know what’s worth experiencing.
I’d wake up in the morning to cool breezes from the open windows from some of the best sleep I’ve ever had (I can’t get over this). This city is so full of life and creativity. I loved it.

the last time i went here was when we had a wreck outside of LA, so we had to go to a car shop to get it fixed and it turned out that we had no air conditioner and we had to drive all the way back home. good times, good times.

i loved LA! it was so cool! i stayed at the disneyland hotel and all they played was the beach boys and elvis! it was so indescribably cool! disneyland wasnt as good as universal studios, but they both had queues that were so long you had to wait 3 hours to get on a ride! in beverly hills, there were so many people doing things on the streets! i saw about 10 people dressed as spiderman tring to climb the lamp posts! definitely worth visiting.

L.A. was tight. Once I got out there i realized that all of the bad things I had heard about L.A. were things I had heard my New Yorker friends say about it. Figures.
It’s like Houston, but with more gangs, cooler commerce & architecture, better weather, and OMG, beaches…...also I noticed that people get very dressed up in Los Angeles, which is cool. Too many girls were wearing the exact same skinny jeans/Ugg boots combo, though, when I visited in December.

I lived in Los Angeles for a little more than a year, and it was a decent experience, for the most part. Don’t be like me and delude yourself into thinking you can make it in this city without a car! Public transportation is miserable and it’s impossible to ride a bike (really hilly and the drainage dealies in the street in residential areas are exactly the width of a bike tire. Additionally, Westwood has the world’s stupidest bike lane ever that exists for less than a block).
If I had a car and enjoyed (or at least could tolerate) driving, I probably would’ve had a better time.
My favorite food destinations:
Falafel King in Westwood
Sprinkles in Beverly Hills
Roscoe’s (waffles are delicious – I don’t eat chicken, but it’s supposedly out of this world). The one in Los Angeles proper is borderline sketchy, the one in Pasadena not so much.
