Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 week ago

    Worth visiting!

I also just got back from a vacation in Montreal. The city was actually named after the mountain next to the city Mont Real. That means Royal Mountain in french. I recommend climbing the mountain its not too big and it only takes about a half hour each way. The view is spectacular at the top and you can see the entire city! At night, there is a cross that is lighted at the top of the mountain and we luckily got a view of it from our hotel window.

    Worth visiting!

I went to Montreal for a week with a huge group of friends and it was great! We stayed at the travelodge (near chinatown) and we were able to walk everywhere. Other than travel and hotel, i spent about $150 on food and souvenirs.

I went to Montreal in December and could not tear myself away from the shopping on St Catherine’s. It’s fantastic! I also really enjoyed walking around the McGill campus. I’d love to be a student there someday!

I came here for a business trip. I am quite enjoying this place. An Awesome place to visit. A well developed country with all the required facilities. You can have all kinds of FUN here. A colorful environment where you can enjoy every minute when you are here. We have many restaurants, festivals, fireworks, Music concerts, clubs, Historical places, Sky Scrappers, Metros, Old ports, Churches and Hotels. Hmmm.. Food cultures is totally different from East-Asian countries. Everything have a little sweetness and it could be difficult to find a restaurant with “HOT” spicy food. Montreal’s Traditional diet is poultry and beef blending with of a bread/ham/vegetables/burger/French fries and drinks. I should never forget to narrate about their underground shopping and Sainte-Catherine Street. In Sainte-Catherine, you will be flooded with the people and shops. Even for window shopping you need at least 3 hours. Also Montreal is famous for its “Underworld /Underground Shopping” which was constructed to facilitates shopping during the intensive Winter Season (-20 C 0). Some of the Metro Station will connect you to UG shopping. You will find the word ”RESO” which states the presence of UG Shopping entrance. ONLY negative feature is the TAX is very high. So It would be very difficult to buy any electronic gadgets, cams, etc..

    Worth visiting!

I came to Montreal as an exchange student and I stayed for three years. I learned to speak French fluently, made some awesome friends, and my first son was born at Notre Dame Hospital a few days before Jean Baptiste Day. When I walked home from the hospital carrying my newborn son we were accompanied by a parade in blue and white! I loved that I never missed having a car; public transportation was everything. I loved vieux-port, the underground shopping, and the HUGE churches. They made an impression on me and 10 years later I entered the Catholic Church. :)

I miss the city and I would love to go again.

Montreal has some of the best shopping I’ve ever experienced!

Hit up rue Sainte-Catherine early in the morning and expect to spend at least 4 hours of your day in Simons if you’re shopping for clothes.

    Oh and wear comfortable shoes!

This is THE place to get the world famous “Smoked Meat Sandwich”. Well, my wife and I stepped out of the hotel to find ourselves in the midst of a heavy snowfall—we went during Christmas time (we like to travel to places in winter to save money). We trudged through several inches of snow to arrive at the metro station, got off at a stop, and trudged uphill in blizzard conditions, freezing our tails off in the windy, icy weather and finally arrived. Despite all this, somehow those sandwiches were worth the effort … and I dream of them often…

Will Always be a Special Place  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

Montreal will always have a special place in my heart. My husband is Canadian and I am American. Prior to marriage, we had to go through the immigration process. It was in Montreal that we had our immigration interview which led to my then-fiance getting his visa to move to the United States. To me, Montreal will forever be the end of a long journey. It was where it became clear that a long distance relationship would finally be coming to an end, and where our journey together officially began.

I would love to go back to Montreal someday to actually see the sites. My entire experience with the city is the US Embassy and the Hard Rock Cafe.

Unfortunately, I still need a passport. I really need to get on that. Sadly, it’s necessary now. I’m thinking of going for my birthday with my mom and some friends.

I really hope this place is as beautiful (read: European) as it sounds.
