Worcester's supposed to have changed a lot...  — 2 years ago

    Not worth it!

When I was at school in the 1990s, I knew some people from Worcester who hated their hometown with a passion – had horror stories about bullets whizzing around their backyard laundry lines and so on. I had mostly been through there thanks to Peter Pan (and that is one bus station I hope I never have to visit again).

Now it’s been a while, and some of my old college friends have bought lovely houses in town, and tell me the town is experiencing a resurgence. I want to give the place the benefit of the doubt, but we’ll still be checking it out in daylight first.

I’m moving here in a couple months. What’s with the big red Care Bear heart logo thing?

If you can catch a party at one of WormTown’s college campuses, that’s great. I-Times and Leitrums are ok, too

    Worth visiting!

I recently got an apartment here. I love that EVERYTHING I need is conveniently located (there are 3 supermarkets near me, a Lowes, AC Moore, Barnes & Noble, and Taproots!) and I am close to Wachusett Mountain. In the fall, if I want to go apple picking, I only have to drive one town over. Boston still isn’t too far if I want to go into Chinatown or Government Center, or even the Cape.
Worcester has two malls and even has museums. I am hoping to check out Higgins Armory soon as I here it is a good place to see. And if I want to get my Master’s degree, Worcester has a bunch of colleges to choose from!

Its cool, you just gotta go out and meet people. Its a very strange place but the ultimate small world where you can run into the same people here and there. Its not as snazzy as a big city but who the hell is into snazz these days? i’ve met people from all over the world in this city. You can really tap into some interesting culters here if you go looking.

Love it or hate it...  — 2 years ago

I find it natural for people to hate where they grow up. I don’t like the city but Worcester is nice. I don’t find it a tourist place, but when I got outside of the city I realize I like to come here. It is, if not pretty very convient. It has history and some sort of special appeal.

I went to WPI twice for the ACM programming contests; the city didn’t impress me much, but I’d be willing to give it another try sometime.

    Its A City  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Worcester has more colleges per square mile than anywhere else it seems. I went to school there for 5 years and its an interesting city. The WAM (Worcester Art Museum) has some amazing peices. The train station is gorgeous inside and out. The schools all have their charm. You can even find good food if you try hard enough. Give Worcester a chance, and you might find something good about it.

    OK, the weather sucks though.

I have a house in the city and one in the country. In the city (WORCESTER), I live in the Vernon Hill area.
