A tip I have about this place

If you visit Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall in summer, make sure to bring an umbrella. It gets really hot and there’s no shade unless you go in or near a building.

A review of this place: One-time dictator...

Very impressive. It’s amazing in places in asia, where space is generally limited, where a dictator has take up this massive expanse of land to build a memorial to him. The building and the gate are quite impressive… even on a miserable, overcast day.

CKS Memorial

CKS Memorial Hall is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s one of the nicest areas I’ve been to in Taipei. I stopped to admire the main gate for quite awhile before continuing past the theater and concert hall. The memorial hall is magestic in its setting with a full courtyard sweeping out from the front entrance. The arched front entrance of the memorial hall is immense and opens up into a soaring ceiling of majestic proportions, with the nationalist sun set at the pinnacle. We were lucky to avoid a huge crowd and were just in time to see the changing of the guard. I was mightily impressed with the whole area. I think I’ll go back and fly my kite.
