Maid Of The Mist

Seeing the Falls from the boardwalk, the observation decks or even at the Journey Behind the Falls is pretty incredible and breathtaking. However, it is nothing compared to the experience of being in the prow on the top deck of the Maid of the Mists.

It begins with a trip in an elevator down to the boat dock. They hand out blue rain ponchos that you WILL need even on a bright sunny day. They head out toward the American Falls first and the announcer describes the sites in English then French.

As you approach Horseshoe Falls the mist and wind whip up around you. The sight of the sun shining down and the sheer enormity of the amount of water rushing over is awesome. They keep the boat hovering in the pool for several minutes and it feels like you are going to be pulled in – incredible.

The queues can be really long and you do get absolutely soaked (if you’re at the edge of the boat anyway), but it’s so much fun. The boat gets quite close to the falls and stays there for a few minutes, it’s what I imagine being in a boiling cauldron must feel like!

I was with my Mom and her partner – it was 1999 in the fall. We had a blast! I had a HELL of a time explaining to my Mom’s partner that the $2 coin was NOT a quarter! We made some great photos, and some equally great memories.

recommend The Maid of the Mist. Seeing the Falls is awesome in itself, but this is like icing on the cake. Some of the other tourist attractions aren’t really worth it, but this REALLY is.

My sister and I were able to catch the last boat of the season. It was amazing because we were there together! Last trip we ever took together. Love you Teresa, My Sister, My Angel.

It only costs a few bucks, doesn’t take long, and you really don’t get that wet. It was worth it IMHO.

Stood on the top deck and got REALLY wet . . . best thing we did at Niagara Falls. SO cool. =)

This boat ride was by far the most amazing tourist-y thing I did when we visited Niagara Falls. You get so close to the falls that you get a better picture of their magnitude than you do anywhere else. The mist from the falls soaks all the parts of you not covered by the complimentary blue ponchos to the point that it’s hard to keep your eyes open, but it’s so worth it!

It was like I took a shower with a blue plastic bag :]

I promised my mother that we would go there, and I want to do this for her! It’s really important that I follow through on this
