Camotes Island

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you live a fast-paced life and want to take a breather… this is the place to go to. No phone signals, no internet… Just the basics… clean rooms, hot & cold shower, AC, even sattelite TV.

Just you and nature. The beach at Santiago Bay and Garden is simply phenomenal. Long, powder-like sand and clear water awaits you. The sounds of the waves are the only thing you can hear. At 4pm, you’ll be joined by throngs of crablets which is very fascinating. When you look at the horizon, you cannot find the line that separates the blue skies and the water. And the sunset is simply magnificent. Very different from the other beaches or places I’ve been to.

To describe the place in one word: Tranquil.

Why I want to go to this place

need anyone ask?!? this IMO is one of the ultimate vacation spots in the world! i’ve always lived in the city and although i’m a bona fide city person, it gets old from time to time… camotes islands would be a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of manila. who cares about electricity, telephone, internet, or nightlife? certainly not me… well, maybe the electricity :D

planning to go there this summer (around may or june), that is, if i don’t go to palawan first :) can’t wait waaaaaa!!!!!!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

The place is a marvel! The long stretch of sugary-white sandy beaches in Santiago Bay (town of San Francisco) is to die for! :)

A tip I have about this place

When going to Camotes Islands for a tour or vacation, make sure to get your return ticket once you arrived at the seaport, especially during peak seasons. Slow boats don’t follow regular schedules so you should be going to the pier rather early so you won’t miss the boat, or you’d be stucked in the island!

Camotes Island

Camotes Island: the land of Potatoes

A semi-remote island near the coast of Cebu, it provides a nice away-from-it-all feel if you want the escape from the hustle and bustle of the crowded beaches.

Here is Mangodlong Beach Resort in San Fransisco, Camotes. A little strip of sand and the high rock formation that rests a few cottages and the stretch of sea makes it a pretty picture.

Aside from beaches, Camotes island is also known for the Lake Danao, Green Lake Park and the Bukilat Cave…

The only way to get there is a 2 hour boat ride from Danao City, Cebu. You’ll see people shuttling back and forth from Cebu to the island, carrying goods and other products from the mainland.

In my opinion, my trip to Camotes was well worth it, and maybe I’ll come back to explore the things I’ve missed.
