Adventureland

The coasters are getting pretty rough. Best ‘thrill’ ride in the park is the Sidwinder in the main picture here. Parking is close and the only long waits are the three water rides because everyone ‘has’ to take their whole family on them once before they leave. Employees are an interesting mix of high schoolers and senior citizens, which can be quite amusing. If you live in DesMoines the season pass is great because it covers parking and on a weekday in the summer you can park really close and ever ride is a walk-on. The Tornado is one of the better wooden coasters you can find.

I remember going to this place as a young girl with my BFF Dee Dee and her parents. We lived in Omaha Nebraska and drove to Des Moines to go to Adventureland. We had a really great time as I recall. But what I do remember is the drive home. There was a really strong storm that made us have to pull off the road and take cover. While we were sitting, the car was struck by lightening!

This theme park is in my hometown, Altoona.

It’s no Disney World, but theres a lot of rides for its size (area) and it’s in Altoona, so of course it’s wonderful!

I remember going here all the time growing up. I went last month and still had a lot of fun.

Adventureland is a fun theme park in the Des Moines area that is convenient for Iowans not wanting to travel far to go to a complete family resort and not have to pay as much as bigger theme parks. There’s over 100 rides, shows and attractions including my favorite part; the rollercoasters. Many, many fun memories at Adventureland.
