Musee De L'Orangerie

Worth visiting!

Worth visiting, especially after

having visited Giverny. A small museum with an impressive collection. Easy to fit in to any length trip to Paris, AND it’s located in the beautiful Tuileries!

More than Monet

Even though the Monets alone are worth visiting this museum, they also have some Renoirs, Picassos, Cézannes, and many more. A very nice (small) museum, with excellent lighting and not too crowded. I’m very glad we visited here.

A great museum

One of the smallest that I visited in Paris, but also one of the most striking. You can sit for absolutely ages looking at each painting (as long as you’re not too annoyed by all the people taking pictures of themselves). It’s also free on the first Sunday of the month, though it can be a long wait as they only allow a certain number of people in the museum at any one time.

Why I want to go to this place

Because I ♥ Monet’s work! I have actually been here TWICE. The first time in 1999-closed for renovations! The second time-closed on the day I had set aside for it while in Paris:{
so it* remains *on my places to visit list!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you are flabbergasted every time you admire one of Monet’s paintings (like me! I even cry sometimes) then this is the place for you…!

Fantastic gallery...

A truely fantastic and mind blowing gallery.

I understand it was built specifically to house Monet’s water lilies in two oval galleries below ground level.

We were not expecting this when we visited and the surprise when we walked in was just awesome.

If you are in Paris you have to go see for yourself.
