Salt Lake City International Airport aka: SLC

Just flew out today on my way home to Virginia.

It is a nice airport, but the security is just petty bullshit. In my humble opinion, there is way too much post 9-11 security bullshit infringing on our civil liberties. (Yes Barra Obama and your FISA flip flop, I’m looking at you. Prick!)

Anyway, these overweight dildo security fuckers pulled me for an extra special search. It amounted to using a red container for my shoes and having air blown on me. WTF ever.

Meanwhile, some little pasty-ass college girl in the same line was given the third degree. I’m talking being patted down, air blown up her shirt, and some detector waved under her feet. She got everything but a pelvic examine, but who knows what happened after I left.

So while this shit is going on, a huge bottleneck of several hundred people are waiting to pass security.

News flash Homeland Security, with all your nonsense security “improvements” the terrorists no longer need to get on the plane. If they detonate suicide bombs in the bottleneck that is created waiting to board, they’ll kill more people than if they were actually on the aircraft.

FIX IT!!!!!

Breathtaking views to the northwest. En route to/from Seattle I sat on the west side of the plane and took loads of pictures of the alien landscape outside my window.

Also, they still have a smoking section inside the terminal, which I thought was odd since I never see those anymore.

Took a connecting flight from here way back in 1998. Couldn’t have made it to where I was going easily otherwise. It gets a default “worth visiting”. Other than that, didn’t see much of it. There was snow hugging the ground in places though! As a coastal girl I don’t see much of it.

i thought the view from the air of salt lake was ugly! it looked like dirty, muddy water. the land looked dry and brown.

but i did like the airport itself! really nice, huge, and clean =]

When this airline was flying, this was their typical layover on the East-West leg of my trips.

I flew on JetBlue when I went to and from Utah. I found the terminal quite nice with lovely pictures of well-known sites…mainly natural beauty. It was very professional and yet comforting compared to my usual vision of an airport.

...I can’t say much more, regrettably! I remember the views being pretty grand, though; only Melbourne’s airport has a better one in my experience so far. So one day I’ll be back by default, I’m sure.

I had a simple layover here, but there are several works of art including fountains and murals hidden throughout the airport. Not to mention the view. The mountains in the distance as you look out on the runway is really something to enjoy!

I’ve been to SLC twice while enroute to Anchorage. I always enjoyed the shops with native artifacts and objects. The surrounding mountains and scenery in general are stunning. I’m sure I’ll come back at some point and explore stuff outside the airport.

Meh. it’s an airport.
