Why I want to go to this place

I want to go to Melrose Avenue to shop, of course! I particularly want to visit Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu. Also, when Vera Wang’s store opens, I would LOVE to see it. Vera Wang Princess is one of my favorite perfumes!!!

This is my one stop shopping spot when i feel like retail therapy. T has such great stores here- they get pricey (ahem, Marc Jacobs and John Fluevog) but there’re also pretty good thrifting zones- try Slow and Wastland. Theres always something going on here- traffic being held up because Jay Leno is interviewing passerby, the weekly flea market at the end of the street, anything.

In 2004, when I worked out of an office in Hollywood, I used this as a thorough-fare to get East. It was bad. Noticed lots of trendy stores where people who know how to dress do their shopping.

Good Shopping

There are some great stores, but it’s not really the place to drive around and be awed. You need to do some day-long and evening-time walking around to really enjoy it’s treasures.

The last time I went to this place

I got lost here while driving an old blue van going to Hollywood. May probably go here again with friends. But I’d rather park the car and walk. Truly you can see beautiful people.

The first time I went to this place

...was back in late 1989. I was visiting with a friend, a native Angeleno, who told me not to be surprised by seeing famous people about—“they always show up.” Five seconds later, Ric Ocasek appeared with a friend of his, videotaping something randomly. They ran across the street in front of us, desperately chasing something down. Kinda cool.
