Camden

I went here for a concert and it was kind of creepy. There was some huge festival going on in town so all the roads I needed to go no were blocked. We stopped to ask a policeman how we could get to our destination and he stared at us for a minute and then turned around and continued talking to his buddies. Geez thanks. The concert was good however, so woot!

I’ve only been into Camden on two occasions. Firstly, I attended a concert which had taken place at the Tweeter Center located in the heart of Camden, and second, a random road trip to visit Walt Whitman’s home. (Which turned out to be closed on the day we decided to visit.) I highly discourage travelers who visit the suburbs to get out of the car unless necessary. (Then again, it was only myself and another female friend who had exited and been taking photos of Walt Whitman’s home. In short, we definitely did not receive a very warm welcome from the locals.)

It’s where I grew up…where my family is from, and I will always call it home.

It’s not a city to wander about in—it “won” most dangerous city in the country—but there are some really beautiful places there. Check out the “University District” and you’ll enjoy most of what you see. I wouldn’t recommend staying after dark though.

Camden could be a great city but blight and bad government have made it lots a trouble. Please don’t buy your drugs there.

This place IS scary. Daytime, nighttime, doesn’t matter. And with the current government in place, it isn’t going to improve any time soon. Unthinkable amounts of tax dollars get flung at this city every year and yet it keeps getting worse. Noble are those who want to go here and devote their time to trying to improve the city. I commend them and hope they are successful. I just fear that with the greater powers in play, small efforts are futile.

God,it’s depressing there. I always drive through Camden to get to Phila and it’s plain digusting.

I have never seen a worse place, maybe Mexico City….maybe. Just driving through is terribly depressing to ones spirit that takes days to recover from.
