While visiting in Ft Lauderdale, we took a day to go down and see the Everglades. Definitely worth the drive! We were a little pressed for time so we didn’t spent too much time in the park itself, just did two nice, short walks. We saw tons of wildlife; lots of gators, birds, geckos, a snake, and turtles. The bugs were out, but didn’t bother us too much as, thankfully, we’d thought ahead and brought some bug repellant. We talked about driving out to do the boat tour, but it was another hour drive just to get there, so we decided to go back out to the Alligator Farm for an airboat ride. The Farm itself is okay; the shows are interesting enough. The airboat ride was great fun, though, and totally worth it. I was able to ride up front and got soaked, which was grand considering how hot it was out. Definitely recommended. If we did it again, I’d want to check out some of the trails, maybe go to the observation deck up in Shark Alley, probably take a long boat ride down near the keys. But we did enough to make me very glad we went.
