I’ll never forget how happy my dad looked with his Nathan’s hot dog! We’d watched two years of the International Hot Dog eatting contest on ESPN (yes, they really show it) and this and the freak show were the only two things he talked about seeing when we were planning our trip to NYC.
He was laughing and smiling and didn’t look at all like he had cancer. I love this picture because it looks like the dad I remember, not the sick dad I see everyday. It was worth our whole trip to New York just to get it!

had a bite of someone’s hotdog, just to say I had. Nathan’s are the same hotdogs they sell everywhere now right? So I can’t say it tasted any different, just more historic.

Arguably the best hot dog in NYC, definitely the most enjoyable place to eat one.

I don’t need to add TOO much more, do I? Though actually I’m slack, the one time I visited this location I wasn’t that hungry. Foolish me.

The dogs were a little expensive ($2.50 a piece) and the service was a little slow but it’s a landmark food institution and well worth the visit. If you live in Manhattan and are looking food someplace a little close to home, I suggest Gray’s Papaya on the West Side.
