The Berkshires

Perfect for a summer/fall weekend getaway from Boston with something for everyone: hiking on Mount Greylock, yoga/wellness at Kripalu, music at Tanglewood, Shakespeare at Lenox, dance at Jacob’s Pillow.

Amazing scenery in the fall.

I grew up here in one of the greatest neighborhoods a kid could grow up in.

I agree with the others – do get lost and wind up at a bed & breakfast or some other local site. The best part is driving through the windy roads, hiking or camping.

I recommend the berkshires. The BEST thing about the berkshires is driving and GETTING LOST (make sure to get lost). When you get lost you find some new tea/coffee/ice cream shoppe or you see a new view of Mt Greylock (visit/climb that if you can!!!). The Northern Berkshires are usually overlooked but well worth it! Skip Pittsfield though, that place sucks! Everything else berkshires=WONDERFUL.

It’s nice to be able to drive an hour or two outside Manhattan and be in farmland. Love spending summers here, moving between NY, CT and MA. (Lots of cows means fresh ice cream!) People love to ski here in the winters, too. Just not me. Check out the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival every summer.
