Bamberg

Technically, I’ve already been here before, but it’s been 13 years since I last visited the place where my grandmother used to live and where I still have relatives. My cousin will celebrate his 50th birthday on Easter Sunday, so I have already booked a plane to Frankfurt and will most definitely make it here this year.
Bamberg is beautiful and I have a lot of vague memories which need re-visiting. My favourite German children’s movie, “Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer” (“The flying class room”) was filmed here, as well.
I am really looking forward to Easter, now!

There’s a leg that sticks out of a wall on a building by the river!! I found Bamberg a bit boring though. There didn’t seem to be much to see.

lol.. I met this chick online and she was cool so we (my roomate and me) went to visit. Ended up getting loaded on redbull & vodkas and passing out.

I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful city in 1996. I arrived about a week before Christmas and was there until just after the new year. I will never forget New Year’s Eve.. standing on the middle of the bridge watching the fireworks in the sky and listening to the cheers of everyone around.

this is where my dad was born. i’ve always thought it would be cool to go there, even though i don’t speak any german.

The center of town is great with it’s Marktplatz (marketplace) and the many Imbuss (food stands) selling sausages of all kinds and flower stalls, etc. It has beautiful cobblestone streets and the river running through town. The huge chirch downtown is gorgeous, you have to visit! If you attempt to speak German, most people actually speak English and will help you if you make the effort. Oh yeah, and beer is actually cheaper than soda to drink!

I used to live in Bamberg and it was the most beautiful place I have ever lived. I enjoyed the art museum as well as the park downtown. I lived next door to a candy lady and around the corner from a butcher and bakery. I love this city.

You have to have the local Roche bier which has an aftertaste of bacon. Sounds strange, but it is wonderful.
