Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

We had so much fun there!! Not a very large zoo, but fun for a morning and a picnic.

Sadly Turner one of the Beluga whales died of unknown reasons. So if you go don’t expect his friend Beehtovin to be his normal frisky self.

Go for Zoolights!

I have a friend that works at the zoo off and on and a couple of years ago she invited me to come down for a behind the scenes tour. I got to hang out with the dolphins and feed the the polar bears – which are my favorite! Very cool!

Support your local (and not so local) zoo’s, aquariums, and wildlife sanctions.

Theres a huge walrus thats as big as a whale.

I have always loved the shark tank here, as well as the belugas. I don’t think I appreciated the otters or the puffins enough before my recent visit, though, and I never even noticed the majestic raven. Or the owl, which was almost as intimidating as the dead-eyed sand tiger shark, horror of horrors.

First off if your looking for a place to take the kids, you can never go wrong with the zoo. Personally my favorite part is the Aquarium. They have huge sharks.
