Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport aka: PHX, Phoenix International Airport

It’s easy to fly into a place….better than driving. So come here to visit and see our airport? Yea, this is weird to even have on here.

If you are taking a red eye flight, make sure you are patient. Lots of people are grumpy. When I was going to Boston, I came from Sky Harbor Int’l.

For anyone.. I suggest letting someone else do the driving to/from Sky Harbor.

It’s as if they tried to lay this place out as poorly as possible.

Terminal 1, doesn’t exist anymore but they never bothered re-numbering the other terminals.

Terminal 2 is actually about the most convenient (although it’s small and old) but since odds are that you aren’t flying United, Continental or Alaska Airlines. Therefore you won’t be using this terminal.

Terminal 3 is fine, once you get inside it. But getting inside it is a pain. It’s much bigger than 2 but only has a single roadway that’s very crowded. And whomever designed the parking garage should be shot.

Terminal 4 is the newest and the “showplace” and also where you will most likely end up (the two biggest airlines in Phoenix are in this terminal- Southwest and US Airways).

And it does have two level roadways..but they sill are horribly laid out and you can easily miss your turn if you are not paying very good attention (and I live here!).

Once inside terminals 3 and 4, everything is nice, but you have to get inside first….

Seems like just about every time you take a flight through Southwest, I’m connecting here in Phoenix. Also, my brother lives here, although I prefer to drive from L.A. rather than to fly.

and I don’t mean that in a good way. The TSA agents in the airport are really rude. Waiting for any length of time here is too long! Avoid layovers here. I’m serious.

The one thing I remember about flying out of Sky Harbor was the thick yellow haze that surrounded Phoenix. The whole area was bright and sunny clear blue sky. Then like a festering pimple on a perfect complexion sat Phoenix encased in a thick sick yellow smog ball. It really makes one see the disgusting emissions that we create and appreciate the resilience of the surrounding environment that seemed minimally impacted.

My vacation destination is not THE Phoenix International Airport, but that is where I’m flying into. I’m attending a wedding (as the Maid of Honor, to be exact) for a long-time friend who is finally tying the knot at age 30. The relationship between us has been an interesting one, so I suspect the wedding should be even more intense.

I installed cabinetry in one of the shops there (lived in phx 28 yrs)

sometimes I feel like these airports are my second home…
I like T-4 & T-3 most since the brunt of the friends I have
work these terminals.. and I can get whereever I need in a
hurry…
