Kelvingrove Art Gallery And Museum

I’ve been to museums in almost every major city in the UK. This one was the best. The exhibits were lovely and interesting, and the notecards on them were in plain English. This is also a museum children are allowed in, and an effort has been made to have the exhibits make sense instead of posturing them for pretension’s sake. The architecture is absolutely fantastic. I loved this place far more than the Royal Museum in London or the Gallery in Inverness.

Go to see the Dali painting of Christ on the Cross. Amazing!

Fantastic building, tourist bus stops right outside it, its free, its huge, and has some fabulous exhibits. Not just for tourists.

I loved the Singh twins Mr Singh’s India but there is a lot of other great stuff to see.

re-opening soon a after major re-furbishment,miss this wonderful building at your peril!stunning art!amazing collections and even a ww2 spitfire hanging from the roof!plus like all of glasgow’s museums its free!its in the heart of the westend,in the grounds of the beautiful kelvingrove park.a couple of minutes walk takes you to glasgow uni,the hunterian museum,the mighty byres road with its flurry of bars,fine dining,delis and boutiques,then onwards to the botanic gardens.what a day out!!

when i was little you could buy treasure hunt books in the gift shop, they would give you clues and you’d have to find the piece of art relating to them… I LOVED IT!

what a lucky lil lass i was? at the time i just thought it was icky :P

The size and scope of this museum make it probably the most worthwhile to see if you are visiting Glasgow. At the moment, it has been closed for a massive refurbishment project that has taken about three years, but it is due to open again summer 2006. I’ll be first in the queue.
