Hana

The drive to Hana is full of many twists and turns on the mountainside, it also takes a while. So set aaway time for the drive. Otherwise it’s beautiful, with multiple stops along the way for hiking and such.

The drive to Hana is quite incredible, and when you get to the park and the pools, the walk up to the Waterfall is worth every step through the different forest types.

Well worth it.

If you want to get away from the chaos of city life, this is the place to go. My husband and I went here in the summer of 2004. What a life changing experience.

People here goes to bed when the sun goes down and wakes up when the sun comes up. There is one store and it is small. But who cares?! There are amazing hikes, beaches, and nature.

Don’t go there expecting luxury, partying, or shopping. If you’re a female, no need for makeup, just sunscreen, hiking clothes/shoes, swimming suit, towel, toothbrush, and a companion.

The road to Hana is as beautiful as they say. Beware though and take your dramamine. I, who never get sick, did. =(
But at the end of the road…HANA…truly beautiful and well worth the drive. The resort is exquisite, too.

The drive there is like no other. Make sure you rent a drop top to soak in as much as possible

The long drive from the south shore to Hana in the north is along very narrow, twisty roads, with lots of traffic, so it’s best to start early to avoid traffic jams as much as possible.

This is something NO ONE should miss. We only planned one whole day, and it was not nearly enough time. We had to skip several beaches and hiking. It took us nearly 7 hours to get to Hana, with making about half of the stops along the way. We had rented a Jeep with permission to take it on the back roads, so we made the whole circle around. We had left at 7am, and didn’t get back until way after dark, about 9pm. I would definitely consider taking TWO days for Hana, if time allows! It’s SO GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!

Hana is so beautiful! So is the road there. I highly recommend renting a jeep, since it makes the ride a lot easier. The waterfalls you see on the way are amazing and Hotel Hana is a great place to stay! We stayed in a cabin with an outdoor hot tub overlooking the ocean and it was the most beautiful view I’ve ever had from a private hot tub. Hana is so far away from everything and it really gives you a chance to completely relax and enjoy nature.

The cave was beautiful and didn’t take long to explore, too. It takes a while to get to Hana, but if you stay there for a couple days it’s really worth the effort.

I am not sure if it’s not worth visiting…stunning drive, serene landscape, great swimming…but if you get car sick, you will die on this trip. I had to drive and only had to stop twice to pass the contents of my stomach on to some poor plants leaves.

Everyone always asks me if I was named after this place! When I worked at Macy’s Jewlery during holiday season, I would get stories about honeymoons in Hana and vacations there and ect, my name brought up all their past Hawaiin memories!!
