Potsdamer Platz

While I was here, a man told me about the first day that the wall went up in Berlin. It happened on a Saturday night. There was a church located in Potsdamer Platz right across from the underground station. When people came up from the station to go to church that Sunday morning, they found barbed wire and guards waiting. They could see their friends across the street waving at them.

Impressive name

I had my 1st German beer here, went gambling, enjoyed ice cream, and went to a couple of Movies (in English of course)! One weekend they had a children’s fair so I brought the children I was an au pair for there. They had polka dancing, clowns, fun games. There is always something going on. If anythything grab a seat in the middle of the Sony Center and look up ~ beautiful!

If you’re interested in seeing the pre-war Potsdamer Platz, you’re nearly a century too late. The centre of swinging Berlin is gone forever. But the modern architecture of the rebuilt Potsdamer Platz is incredible, even if you don’t have an interest in architecture or engineering.
