Pikes Peak

I went up the trail. And down the trail. It took me 8 hours 40 minutes to do it. That was the summer of 2001.

If you are flying in from below or near sea level, be careful to give yourself time to adjust to Denver before rushing up to Pikes Peak. If you go up there, be careful about the high altitude.

I ran up the slopes (and down). It was hard. Very hard.

My husband and I drove up to the summit on the highway, which was full of pull off points of great views. The summit house had good food and “world famous” doughnuts.

Over the next 3 days, we backpacked up and down the mountain on Barr Trail to reach the summit yet again. It was a great experience. Just make sure you’re in shape if you want to attempt the 26 mile round trip trail!

DO NOT miss this drive, its amazing. driving to the top with my cousins is one of the highlights of my life thus far

This is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Once you make it to the top, you can see for miles and miles and miles and miles, etc. The drive to the top was terrifying because I’m scared of heights. The road in some parts is so narrow and there is no guard rail so nothing to stop your car from rolling down the cliff if the dirt gave way. Definately an adrenaline rush!!

i’m going to visit my best friend in colorado springs in a couple days. i’ll be there for a total of 3 or so. and she talked bout us and her cousin going to pike’s peak. sounds fun to me.
