Orchard Road

Orchard is like the most famous street in Singapore…
The must visit street!
Hahahaha…..
Every time we went to Singapore….my mom who is a big spender…always choose accommodations in Orchard! :p

Well, If you want to spend money, this is the place where you can shop a lot of things :D

Big crowds but good shopping and great atmosphere!

I can imagine how boring Orchard Road could be for people from modern countries…clean,sanitary,big shopping malls..but it must be awesome for someonw from an exotic country like me..and it so happened I came with a good friend of mine who also came from a-not-so-developed country..Singapore has put me into an awe but of course you need to have and must be willing to spend lots and lots of money!Although sitting in the park and munching and chatting could be great.

Orchard Road is just a place to find lots of Western crap…. Hilton, Marriott, Borders Books, Tony Roma’s, 2 Burger Kings, 4 (!!) Esprit shops, etc.

If you want to get the same things you could get at home, or you want to be propositioned by pimps, Orchard Road is the place to go. For any other purpose, it’s absolutely the least interesting part of Singapore.

I flew to Singapore from Shanghai on China Eastern Airlines. It was about a 5-hour flight to get down here. S’pore is situated only 1 degree north of the equator so this is the tropics.

Arrived to my hotel and out I went on a run down Orchard Road. It’s 90 degrees outside with tropical humidity. Feels like early August in the midwest, but more palm trees. ha! And it’s May!

I ran for 44 1/2 minutes. Lots of people out since it was 5-6PM. After about 30 minutes of running, I took an escalator down under the road to get to the other side. It was loaded with people. One of the hotter moments of my life!

Now that I’m thinking about it, Singapore is where I first started running without walking. 5-years ago this month!

The amount of stores and malls they have are, wow!! Not even funny! :) Definitely worth a visit for hadrcore shopaholics!

This place really lights up for the holidays!

I stayed near Orchards Road and would walk down it in the evenings. Its great shopping if you have a ton of money, but its not cheap! I’d rather hop on the subway and go down to one of the many less touristy malls for some reasonable prices.
