The Lady & Sons

if you live(d) in savannah, people consider this place a joke. and now that i’ve been i see why. it’s all spectacle. you have to make an appointment before breakfast to eat lunch. it’s 4 stories and all of them are overcrowded so the atmosphere is shot. and the menu is very small. buffet or 3 other items?
i was very disappointed, i’ll just stick to her show and make the items myself.

Good food! I enjoyed reading her book after having traveled to Savannah.

The best southern style soul food I’ve ever had!!!

Went once with my boyfriend for a company dinner. The food was good, don’t get me wrong, but was absolutely nothing special, and certainly not worth all the hype & long lines! Maybe it’s different when The Lady & Sons are actually in-house, but if you’re in Savannah & looking for a special Southern-style meal that IS worth the line… skip this & head to Mrs. Wilkes!

but I found it to be very overrated. I love Paula Deen more than your average person. The restaurant’s inside is so beautiful that you do need to eat there if only to look inside :) A buffett? I expected more…

I was ashamed to admit to my boyfriend that I had never heard of Paula Dean (I’m a yankee)..the place I got cheese fries at before we got to dinner said it wasn’t worth the hype..I decided to try out for myself. Being a college student I miss my mom’s home cooking, it was nice to sit three floors up in downtown Savannah, the atmosphere was a perfect setting for the meal. They bring you cornbread and another bread when you sit, their sweet tea is okay, not the best, they also put a mint leaf in it for no reason…I do recommend the wedge salad, I love iceburg with bluecheese..I got the fried lobster, I actually really didn’t like it, although I really love steamed lobster so I probably wouldn’t like it anywhere. The crab soup is GREAT though, so I guess it depends on what you order. I had a great experience despite the too fried chewy lobster..make sure you love butter before you go (which I do.)

I took my wife to Savanna last week end for our 43 wedding anniversary and one of our highlights was to have dinner at the Lady and Sons Resturant. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. The fried green tomatoes were a joke, all bread and no tomato. My wife found a 4 inch string in one of her tomatoes. I had their 2 seafood plate, shrimp and scallops on a bed of fried collard greens with cold slaw and fried potatoes. The only things eatible were 5 shrimp, 6 bay scallops and a table spoon of slaw. Not much for 20 bucks.
Paula and the boys need to spend some time at home running their business. I can’t believe I am the only one that would not go back to the Lady and Sons.

He comes out and rings a large triangle. You ought to see the crowds that gather on the sidewalks on both sides of the street.

Lately, Ms. Dean and her son are in all the local papers.

I had the fried green tomatoes appetizar, which is one of my favorite foods! But I ordered crab cakes and didn’t like them. Was jealous of everyone who ordered the buffet and got them to sneak me some amazing southern macaroni and cheese!!!!

Nice down home cooking. Make sure to be there when it opens so you can hear them ring the dinner bell!!!
