News about this place

Redding is not for the weak!!! During the summers we have toped in at 121 degrees during 2006. Not even the locals who have survived Redding heat were prepared for that day!!! However, there are some wonderful things to enjoy in Redding, if you have people to enjoy them with. The night life is quiet, but the atmospheres are welcoming. It is truly the town for those who love Nature. Lakes, mountains, and trails to hike through. And just a short drive away we have the fabulous slopes of Mount Shasta. What more can you ask for, on those hot days. Come look for yourself!

i can’t say it was worth visiting cause we immediately hitch hiked to whiskeytown and then walked with our packs all the way down hill to the camping areas and got stuck for three days because, as mentioned by someone else it’s fucking HOT in the summer. 110 degrees in the shade. we eventually escaped, smelling like hippies.

How this place changed my life

i’m a misplaced local, i just moved away from redding last summer… i never thought i’d miss it. but for all the years i lived there it took moving away for me to appreciate it. i cant even begin to say how much i love shasta county… i miss nature, clean lakes, beautiful mountains, snowbaording, cold rain, our tiny downtown, the cascade theatre, ... mot of all i miss my friends, of course. i think houston has to be one of the worst places to meet people, its so impossible! those in redding dont know how lucky they are.

and if you dont like redding, move away and dont come back until you appreciate it! that way redding can stay shitty-people free, the way i like it. so there!

Why I want to go to this place

Is there a sadder city than Redding?

Oh Shasta Lake.

The picture is of the Shasta Dam, second largest in the country if I recall correctly. I would like to note that Redding does not look like that except during the rainy season when things are green. The other half of the year the heat is sweltering (around 110 during the day, 45 at night) and the humidity is non-existent. It is an absurd place to live, and doesn’t seem like much better to visit.

Good luck, travelers.

Great Outdoors

If you’re an “outdoor’s” kind of person, you’ll love Redding, Ca. located in Shasta County. We have two, huge mountains (Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen), multiple lakes, waterfalls (Burney Falls), and much more! Stay away in the summer, unless you REALLY love the heat! Triple digits for weeeeeks on end. But we get all four seasons. Very pretty in the fall. Highlights – Shasta Dam, Sundial Bridge, Turtle Bay Aquarium, Whiskeytown Lake and all the fishing you’d ever want!
