House Of Pies - Kirby

During the Superbowl, we say Beyonce eating here at 1 AM.

This has got to be the best place in Houston to go right after all the bars and clubs close. Its open 24 hours a day and they have the best food ever.

I heard from somewhere that this is where the design for the first compaq computer was drawn – on a napkin!

Where else can you go at 3 in the morning to get some decent grub and meet some interesting souls who all have their own story to tell? Great place—check it out.

I don’t know why everyone is being so hard on the food here.

It’s diner food, and honestly, it’s damn good diner food. House of Pies is the first place I come when I get home from school, and I always order one of three things: a tuna melt, which is served on their homemade herb bread; fish and chips, which are beer battered, or blueberry pancakes, which are amazing, and available at whatever hour you might want them.

Of course, the pies are amazing, which is why they probably tend to overshadow the decent food.

Try the Bayou Goo:

A pecan crust with a layer of sweet cream cheese,then a layer of vanilla custard swirled with chocolate chunks and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Yum!

Don’t fill up on the Denny’s quality food though. As the name implies this is a place for amazing pies. The food is so..so, the environment is a nice change for the busy city life, but the pies (they have something close to 40 kinds) are what make this place special.

This place is a great hang out for locals or people visiting – their pies are AMAZING and definitely worth it.

House of Pies is a staple of late night dining for the youth of Houston (and sometimes not so youthful folks). Try the NY Strawberry Cheesecake. It’s ALWAYS dry but I still love it.

Any kind of pie you could want!!! Plus they are open 24 hours a day. Pie and coffee at 2am….YUM!
