wedding bells are gonna ring

I was on Tybee Island 3 years ago when my son and I took a road trip. We went to a place called the crab shack that was listed in a book called “Road food” It was wonderful! for $50.00 you can get a heaping platter of crab legs, mussels, crawfish, corn on the cob, sausage and potatoes for 2 (or more) people. I enjoyed myself so much. The beach at tybee is so peaceful. You can easily find sand dollars. I love this place so much that I decided to get married here. On August 22nd 2006 I will be getting married at the Tybee lighthouse. Afterwards I am going to get another seafood platter at the crab shack. I dont know which excites me more – getting married or eating that wonderful platter!! LOL

I prefer the beaches a little more south of georgia for day trips. But it’s is amazing on a starry night and to watch the sun rise.

Met with Mac at the Pier on 16th, earlier today

We enjoyed watching the surf, the rising tide, the people, the birds. We discussed the developments in Tybee, how it is being gentrified, how one might slow development and in some cases create little enclaves where a working man might still come to find a corner where he can ditch his gear prior to heading out into the surf. We discussed land trusts and other strategies to counter the transformation of Tybee in to a place exclusively for the rich and priveleged.

We all need to work hard to keep Tybee available for all

The place is in great danger of being developed into a resort community for the rich. We need to find ways to preserve some of the present property for the residents who own the small properties now, and keep some places which are open to the working class still.

Maybe some trusts are the answer.

I’m praying for a bust in the housing bubble.
