Albufeira

Tourist mecca – more expensive than England. I think this place would have been nice maybe 5-10 years ago.

this place has the most gorgeous beach. its not all tacky either the old town part of the place provides a bit of contrast. good weather too :)

I was on a camping here with my parents when I was a child. It was my “most international destination” for years. I had three friends, a kid from Sweden, and a brother and sister from Aveiro (North Portugal). I can even remember their names! Viktor, Paulo and Judith, thought, of course they didn’t spoke Spanish, as I didn’t sopoke Portuguese neither Swedish…

My parents took me here as a kid and that was when I realized I didn’t like beach destinations that much.

Albufeira was like a small version of Cancun..cheesy!! not a speck of Portugese culture. to see the Algarve, go the the beaches around the town, but not the one in town. we stayed at the Sheraton just out of town and the beach was gorgeous..but Albufeira town was not one that we ventured into much.

Albufeira is beautiful. The people are lovely. The general atmosphere of the place is wonderful. Though I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t like the smell of fish as that is what Albufeira is famous for!
