Used to live on the base

I grew up on the military base in Kaneohe. I had a great childhood living in Hawaii. It was wonderful.

Since i live on the island, I get to check out a lot of hidden things. The theatre groups over here are probably something that the tourists over look alot. Some of the best high school and profession plays I have ever seen in my life were at the Castle Theaters and Paliku Theaters in this part of the island. Not to mention Haleiwa Joe’s a wonderful restaurant that we all like to spend time at after the shows. And the drive over there is spectacular, too. When it rains, the mountains lining H3 spill waterfalls over the sides of the road. So it’s not a danger to the cars (usually) but it’s a tempting distraction.

The People and the Places

This is definitely a good part of Hawaii to be at. I live here at the Marine Corps Base in Kaneohe and the people around here are friendly, the view is beautiful, you got the bay to sail around in your free time and you are just one road away from everywhere on the island.

Kaneohe

If you visit Oahu and intend on driving around it, then you’re more than likely going to drive through Kaneohe. It’s not a beach town or anything special like that but it does have a great view of the mountains. There’s also a few banana patches and at Hoomaluhia, the batanical gardens, you can see a lot of great plant life.
