I love Haight-Ashbury

i used to live right on haight, between masonic & central. This is the best neighbourhood to find straight, cute boys en masse :-) It is also a great place to find convergences of squatters, drug addicts, and homeless people (esp at the opening of the park), but they are easy to ignore.

Yes there are some cool “hippie” type stores and great restuarants, but it has also been taken over by the culture-sucking industries which afflict too many of the previous cultural centers of America. On the crossroad of Haight and Ashbury there is a gap and a ben & jerrys. Need I say more?

This area had a lot of cool restuarants and shops. THere’s also an area where a bunch of people hang out during the day, a little park of sorts. Kind of like Central Park for hippies. Really relaxed, but I didn’t really feel heady enough to be there.

is worth visiting. Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. East Bay is nice too with milder weather. As they say, you can tell the tourists in SF because they are wearing shorts and it gets very cold in the late afternoon as the fog rolls in. Still, too many beuatiful places, restaurants and local hangouts to mention in SF, and so many different cultures. Much better than Singapore for those who have been to both places. Chewing gum is not a felony in SF. LOL

Haight/Ashbury is worth going to because it represented everything the sixties stood for-but now it is overrun by Starbucks and other corporate businesses-so the history is a little disolved there-but yes it is worth seeing.
