Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore

I grew up in southern michigan, and we used to go to the dunes quite a bit. My brother and i loved it. Flip flops are a must though because the sand is HOOTTTT! A growing danger has been growing with swimming in the area due to the undertow so be very careful. Nevertheless its pretty awesome to see all that sand. What a neat nat’l park!

The dunes are great for the beach and the naturalist programs. You’ll need mosquito repellent at night. While you’re in town, go picking at Stateline Blueberries. Mmmm.

Go to mt Baldy

It is the closest beach to my hometown, so its fun even though its a tad dirty

Hypodermic needles, used condoms and garbage littered the beaches when I went, though this was several years ago and in the off season. Still, as a national park you’d think they’re keep it a little cleaner.

I loved the dunes it’s so fun and the water is barely even cold. the waves were so fun and the sand is so clean. The water is fresh.

Its nice but you have to be careful. Someone drowns here about every year or so. Swim at your own risk.

I went here on Sunday hoping to lay out on the beach and read. Instead we got there right when a huge storm was rolling in! It was a mass exodus from the beach, but we decided to go to the beach anyway. We settled onto the sand and got literally sandblasted by all of the wind. We watched some lightning on the water and left right when it started to rain. I love the dunes; hopefully I can go back during dry weather!

We were on our way home from driving cross country and we stopped. Didn’t spend much time here.
