Ely

have been there twice.. both times throug scouting.. really nice people over there

One of the country’s truly great cathedrals, if not the world! Only downside is that the countryside isn’t really the greatest.

I went through Ely on a train with my best friend once. It was a sunny day and looked like a lovely place. ever since i have wanted to go and look around.

The Ely Cathedral and antique shops were great. This is also where I had my first taste of pudding, Brittish style. :-)

I think you could easily say that Ely is the true gem of the Fens. It’s an elegant town with refined architecture. I went in September, on a clear day with blue skies – it was absolutely lovely in those conditions. The cathedral is amazing but they charge you to go in and I don’t think it’s right to charge people a set amount to enter God’s house. So I didn’t. I’d happily give a donation if asked but I don’t think God would really approve on a mandatory fee!! Also, Oliver Cromwell came from Ely and I think his house is definitely worth a look.
