Very educational, great pieces.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

I went to the Barcelona exhibit Sunday. There were some incredible pieces, but i would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if it hadn’t been so darned crowded. I wasn’t able to enjoy it in the way that i usually like to drink in art galleries: slowly, quietly, sitting & contemplating.

Plus, unless i’m mistaken, there were no other exhibits, which is pretty astonishing for a museum in a city of this size. I think, though, that renovations of the museum are just now being completed, so perhaps it will be better by my next visit.

I have been to the museum many times in my lifetime. I tryed to take my children there again just a few weeks ago. We drove the hour or so to get there and found out it is closed for remodeling. I don’t know when it is to reopen but I would check on that before going there. We ended up going to the Natural History Museum that is right next door. It’s worth it too…

The impressive collection includes more than 35,000 objects. Admission is free (there is always a featured exhibit too, usually one from out of town, that they do charge for). But you don’t even have to go to the pay exhibit to see fresh art – they have other areas that rotate often. I try to go at least once per month to may favorite areas to see the fresh exhibits (the modern area upstairs and the wings just past the cafeteria where they always have new things). They are about to embark on a huge expansion construction project so they can show more at one time (so, if something is changed from this post don’t blame me). Simply a must see!
