Boston Common

I saw it at night… I covered a lot of ground, but I’d really like to see what it looks like in the daytime.

I was able to visit Boston only for a few hours. Next time I hope to have more time.

I was in high school

Technically I’ve only been here once. I went to Boston in December 2005 and wouldn’t leave without a visit to the Commons to see the Christmas tree. I’m from Nova Scotia and I had to see the tree we sent to Boston. It was so neat to see a tree that was from my home province in the state I was visiting.

The last time I went to Boston some plans fell through and I ended up being alone a lot. I wandered Boston Common frequently as my hotel was pretty close. It’s so serene and beautiful, especially in the spring.

To walk around a place that’s been around for so long is just amazing, the history of it all is quite overwhelming.

I realized on that trip how small Boston really is. The memories from before all came together as I realized places I had been were only blocks from each other. I walked the whole city that week, and if I had thought I could land a job in advertising there, I would have moved there this year, but instead I came to Chicago.. I do love me some Chicago action, but every once in a while I wonder if I would have made things happen in Boston. It’s one of my favorite cities on Earth. Maybe one day I will reside there…

It was about 90 degrees before pouring all over us then returning to 90 degrees. But I still had fun. I want to have my wedding there, seriously. It’s gorgeous in the summer.

Or more. Last time I was there I was finishing up a walk through the downtown area before meeting friends for drinks and dinner, and I spent close to a good hour just wandering about and enjoying the time—the weather was crisp, clear and just warm enough for a late April day, and many people were obviously of the same turn of mind I was. It was a lovely experience and I can readily see why people go there often.

Check out the memorial (on the hill up towards the State House) to the 54th Massachusetts Infantry (the Civil War regiment in Glory).

Worth visiting if you’re a tourist. The little stands selling fried dough and the like are nice.
