This might be the prettiest, most tranquil spot on the planet.

Must see for all types of travellers. Night life is one of the best at this part of Croatia. The lack of beaches near old town is not an issue because you get to have excursions by boat to Pakleni islands near Hvar, this makes going for a swim a small adventure. At some caffes (carpe di em) you need to make a reservations a few days before to get a place at evening, of course a prices are ripp of. I am coming to Hvar island often, but this time decided to have accommodation in Hvar out of city of Hvar (in Sucuraj). This village is on the other part of island, closer to mainland, but then you get the chance to visit Korcula, Dubrovnik and other places on coast as one day trip. The whole island is definitelly must see.

This island has it all! We took the 20 minute ferry from the south end of the island and drove across it to Hvar. Passing the lavender fields and tiny farms with olive trees was unforgettable. The town of Hvar was perfect, there was a nice balance of old and new. Ate at some great restaurants, and were sad to leave: This was our last stop before flying back home. We only stayed in Hvar for 2 days but I wish it was longer…
*stayed here: http://www.accomodation-hvar.com in a studio with kitchen overlooking the sea for only 45 euros a night!

My family comes from Hvar, not actually the city of Hvar, but from an island Hvar, I spend every summer here. The whole island is wonderful, the sea is clean, the beaches are great. And most of all, people are friendly. There are lots of places to go out, like famous Carpe Diem, Veneranda and other. It may be a little expensive but only in ctiy of Hvar, other places are cheaper with the same amount of fun
