Magnificent Mile aka: Michigan Ave

Took the Metra into Chicago today and walked from Union Station to Millenium Park then walked up Michigan Avenue to the Hancock Tower and back down the other side – MAGNIFICENT. We shopped and ate and laughed and walked a ton.

OK – I should probably say grazed because we had a bit of chocolate at Moonstruck , 1 steamed bun at Wow Bao , lunch at Bistro 110 and a handful of popcorn from Garrett’s

Another fabulous vacation day.

My boyfriend took me down there last time I visited him. We walked around, went shopping, and looked at engagement rings =)

Magnificent Mile is technically not in River North, however, many River North places are listed on the Mag Mile website, which I used to enter in a bunch of restuarants and bars.

Therefore instead of reporting a problem with entries and having them moved out of Mag Mile into River North or Streeterville, I think we should leave them in. Also Mag Mile should stay within River North because of that crossover of places.

Also, some straight up Streeterville places are here under Mag Mile as well, let’s leave the food and drink places as well as artsy fartsy galleries and museums in here.

Where the drunken haze of the Mag Mile ends, no one knows for sure, but damnit it’s not even a mile long anyways so it can be thicker on the sides…

Lets say the 43P Mag Mile boundaries are Oak Street, Clark, Columbus and the Chicago River.

This mile walk was nice. The streets were not overly crowded on a Friday. Cool shops, but I did not go into any of them or buy anything. I just loved all the wonderful architecture of the buildings and just walking.

Plenty of Starbucks, great shops and boutiques and beautiful architecture. And c’mon, there’s a Lush store!!

That’s the key. Have a lot of money. The Water Tower Place is great for shopping. I love it. If you can grab a window seat in one of the many Starbucks, do it. It’s a great place to people watch. And it really is clean. Everybody should go downtown at least once.

The stores here are really nice, but can be pricey. It’s a great place to people watch.

I am a female so this was like the Mother Shiop calling me home.

I’ve always admired how clean the Magnificent Mile is.
