Lake George

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

This was the first vacation I’ve been on in years. Everywhere you turn is a beautiful view of the lake or the mountains. We stayed in a lakefront cabin, which was really lovely.

The resort we stayed at was run by a bunch of really nice people. But I’d not go on a holiday weekend again. There were a lot of drunken and stupid louts who would run around being loud and obnoxious. I got up really early just to enjoy the beach without them.

Still, most of the townspeople are very nice. The village is a bit like a huge boardwalk, but there are some decent shops. I hadn’t been on vacation in years, so I went all out and brought the requisite snowglobe and hoodie. Try the Pancake and Steak House, after going for a ride at the ranch across the street! But don’t ride Poncho. He’s a nice enough horse, but he moves very slowly, doesn’t like to be rushed, and is easily distracted by tasty-looking maple leaves.

How this place changed my life

I fucking love this place.
Everyone is pretty cool and friendly, the lake is beautiful. Cute little shops. I used to ride the Minnie HaHa a lot when I was a kid. The museums are pretty fun, and there’s a bunch of arcades and minigolf spots.
I go here all the time to relax, I want to live here but it’s too pricey because of all the tourists.
It’s amazing in late April-early May when it’s a ghost town.

I used to live here.

Well I used to live in Lake George but I moved two years ago to Warrensburg which is like… 10 minutes north woo. Ya, I hated living in LG because the school sucked and I just hate busy towns. It’s a nice place to visit in the summer if you just want to have a nice time with some friends, but to many jerks and the girls are annnoyyying! It all comes down to what ever strikes your fancy I guess.

Lake George and the Adirondacks

we stopped here on our way to and from Canada a few summers ago. we stopped here also because we hiked in the Adirondacks. I met this really cool guy named Ethan there. and the lake itself is very pretty.

The first time I went to this place

The public camp grounds near Lake George are simply refreshing.
The way the community bands around the entire freshwater lake next to the woods justs makes any Saturday afternoon seem great.
With the sailing and cabins and all, I really hope to go back again!

The Wedding

I was up in Lake George a couple weeks ago for a wedding. Didn’t strike me as anything special. Looked really touristy.

A review of this place

We went last summer with our son who was 8 and daughter who was 4.
Six Flags is only a few miles away.
There are many put put places to visit.
million dollar beach was relaxing and enjoyable for the family. The lake is beautiful.
There are a few arcades, good for kids and those adults who enjoy games.
there is another amusment park, though small and for kids called magic forest I believe, not too far. We didn’t visit though.
TONS of bars on the main strip. Next time we go, we’re going without kids to enjoy the bars at night.
There were good restaurants we enjoyed, though I don’t remember the names right now.
Many stores with odds and ends, souviners ect..

I don’t remember much from the trip. But I’d like to go back to do some water sports, camp, hike, etc.

Live here, better than downstate.

I live here. I like it here--well, sometimes the flatlanders (downstate tourists) can be a bit pushy and rude-and traffic can be nasty when there’s something special going on, like the motorcycle rally, the firemans’ convention or the Elvis Festival…but overall, it’s a fun place to live and visit. It’s generally quiet here from late October to late April. If you want to take full advantage of all the attactions without the hassle of the crowds, pre-Memorial Day to early June are your best bets. I work, at present, at the race track/casino in Saratoga Springs, so I guess I can’t knock the tourists too much—-they help pay for my paycheck!

Went here a number of times as a kid. The lake is pristine, and the city was fun. I loved all the arcades!
