Playas de Rosarito

Great place outside town…beautiful view of ocean…but, a bit rocky, as Rusty found out.

This is where my wife and I honeymooned for half of our trip. We had a great time hanging out around our resort and on the beach. I’d say the best part is when you get out of town and drive around the coast. It’s pretty pristine and untouched.

For some reason this was a favorite place to visit for my mother, who apparently remembered it from its heyday back in the fifties when movie stars would go to Baja for fun instead of their own private islands in the Mediterranean. Now it is just kind of run-down in that pleasant, charming, Mexican sort of way.

All I remember about it is that the weather is nice, the ocean is always awash in neurotoxic red tide, the jewelry guys will sell you highly overpriced joints, and you can get drunk there even if you are fifteen.

In short, there are much nicer places to visit in Baja, although Rosarito is alright for an overnight stay on a road trip.

One of the craziest vacations I’ve ever taken. One morning I woke up in my friend’s condo and walked across the porch connecting her condo to mine to find that someone had put all of the indoor furniture outside and all of the patio furniture inside. Unfortunately it rained almost the entire time we were there, but we made up for it by drinking copious amounts of tequila!

I loved being in Mexico, Rosarito. I didn’t do the “normal” tourist attraction. I was fortunate to go with a family that are from there and got to see, in my opinion, the better view of Rosarito – the people. Of course I did shopping, absolutly loved it. I want to go back!!!! Hopefully this year

I lived in North County San Diego during high school. And k58 and k71 was me and my friends home away from home. the 4:00 carned al pastor and our favorite little tacoria was my source of life.

Okay, compared to Tijuana, Rosarito is nice. It has a fairly clean, pretty beach. The town itself is fine- a bit touristy, but isn’t that why many come? But I remember two things about Rosarito: being dragged off to the police station when the guy driving our car didn’t stop at a stop sign. (He knew limited Spanish, and when questioned, said, “Yo quiero alto”. Ha.) And, getting horrendously sick, and NOT from alcohol. Neither did I drink the water, etc. Another girl got sick at the same time. There is nothing worse than sharing a bathroom with another sick girl when the bathroom is like the public ones down at Huntington Beach… To all who want to go, I hope you have a better time than I did!

Spring break 2006 anyone?????

Years ago we drove down from LA post all the spring breakers, the town was exhausted. We stayed on the ocean for cheap and my ankles got really sunburnt.

To party, sure it’s fun esp. if you want to get away from the LA scene. Love the tacos on the sidewalk.
