Tavern On The Green

While its famous and surely loved by ghostbuster fans.. The food is nothing to write home about nor the service. I say visit, walk around in side and then go eat at one of New Yorks wonderful restaurants. This is more a tourist attractions than anything else.

the whole experience was very bourgeois. But that’s not such a bad thing. Since we are on a budget my husband and I sat in the courtyard area and had drinks and dessert. Very relaxing and I loved the topiaries.

Not the best, but then again neither is times square and everyone goes there too. It’s a new york icon so appreciate it as that.

i went here for a business party. I had a great time.

Because the building is owned by the city (the restaurant leases the space) they are not allowed to make it completely private. That means the bathrooms are open to anyone… and they are MUCH nicer than anywhere else you can find in Central Park!

I was here for my birthday about 2 years ago. We had reservations and sat in the Crystal room. The service as terrible, the food not much better and the prices ridiculous. There are plenty of much better places on the Upper West Side. To make it worse, they had a photographer taking pictures of guests and then trying to sell them to us later like we were at Disney World.

I went during the restaurant week. It was one of the few restaurants that still have open tables when most others are gone – not a good sign at all. Even though I knew restaurant week is not the best time to sample a restaurant, I came out feeling bad about both the food and the service. The lamb was not fresh, and the servers were rude.. Hey you don’t have to participate if you only want dressed up lawyers!

Oh and there was a photographer walking around offering to take pictures $#%$%... man did I mention the place was ugly?

I’m not going back to restaurant week or tavern on the green again.

The tacky fairy threw up on this place. I was really shocked at the hideous decor. Yuk. It’s actually exactly the same now as it appears in Ghostbusters. UGLY. The food was less expensive than I expected (about the same as a fine restaurant in any other city), but it wasn’t particularly tasty. Did I mention my husband and I both got food poisoning? Don’t waste your time here—so many other great restaurants in the city.

great parties. don’t just go when it’s not a special occasion though. too expensive.
