This place is only worth visiting if it’s your closest “real city”. I spent a summer in Jackson and Idaho Falls had the closest mall so we took a trip out there. We might have well have shopped at the Kmart in Jackson.

We passed through on our way to California. Their only theater in town only shows G and PG movies and the Jack in the Box made us really sick!

I was born here. I only lived here until I was close to 5, and I don’t remember much about it. I haven’t been back. But I was happy here. I have amazing memories of being home here, of visiting Yellowstone, etc. Despite living so far away for so long, this is still where I’m from.

This is my home town, I was born and raised here. My dad is captain of the Idaho Falls police department, he’s over all of the detectives and basically fills in for the chief when the chief is too busy. Both my mom and dad are members of Civitans and seem to know just about everybody here. I’ve moved away 3 different times, and still find myself coming back. I don’t know what it is about this place that keeps making me come back… maybe just the fact that it’s “home”. My husband has also grown up here, he’s actually older than I am and has lived here longer because of it. We have 4 kids and it’s a nice place to raise a family. The majority of people here are LDS, which Idaho Falls is well known for. We sit in a great location, minutes away from mountains and also close to the bigger cities, without being too close. It’s very scenic here and has a “small town” feel… although, I think it’s getting too big. (I remember when it only took 15 minutes to get from one side of town to the other… now it takes 45 minutes because of all the traffic!)

I was born here and spent the better part of my youth in this lovely town. It’s quiet, clean, and generally a very pleasant place to be. Of all the places I have lived in my life, Idaho Falls is the one place I long to return to. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia of days past or the familiarity of the beautiful green belt around the Snake River that call to me. I have literally nothing to go back to there. Of all the ties that bound me to the city, all but my grandmother, an aunt, and a couple of cousins have moved away. I have a few long-time friends there still, but I have not spoken to them in ages…but I think of them often, and fondly. I love Idaho Falls because it is small enough to make you feel like you are more than just a face in the crowd, yet large enough to make you feel like you are part of something important. As for being “repressively mormon,” yes there are a lot of LDS people there. Yet, somehow, someway, there are hundreds of different faiths which enjoy a strong presence in the city.

Check out the mall where they have a great video arcade and Orange Julius. Also Hasting video store and a movie theater. Sand dunes nearby and Napoleon Dynamite was filmed not too far from here. Any questions about this area feel free to ask!
Oh yeah, don’t forget Grand Teton National Park!

kind of hate it but it was a great place to be a kid in the 70s. I have to go back tomorrow for my grandfather’s funeral.
Fewer and fewer reasons to go there . . . Just a bunch of stones to visit.
But it was a beautiful childhood and I’m grateful for it.
Apparently it’s also the name of a band now – - I have to check them out.
