Desert Botanical Garden

I have been twice. Im really into nature, and growing up in Florida, in a more tropical region it is really quite a contrast. Although from the moment you step off of the plane and see the scenery and realize youre not in kansas anymore (or miami as in my case), the botanical garden is a showcase of arizonas native desert plants and is really quite special.

I have a membership here. Love this quiet, peaceful place.

When the desert is in full blown this is an awesome, peaceful place to go.

Try to go in March/April during the butterfly exhibit and while the wildflowers are blooming.

It’s a little like the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, but with more emphasis on desert flora and fauna. I’ve been here once, in the early winter, for “Las Noches de las Lumenarias,” when they decorate the park in luminaries and have local groups perform holiday music. It’s definitely something worth checking out. If you go, reserve your tickets early; they sell out quickly.
