i grew up in Monroe too. its was a fun enviroment when i was a kid

here’s what it has to offer

the outdoors
hunting, bowling, fishing
going around the woods lost half the time
running around on the roof
festivals every other week
blowing things up
swimming in murky waters
best gumbo contest

now being far from it, i can say monroe has alot of history if you explore it deep enough. the people around always has something to say about the place. the sunlight shines differently over the town with peace and crispiness

It could be worse

Monroe isn’t all that bad… You should see where I grew up.. I guess home is what you make it. If you come to Monroe looking to be disappointed then you will… I am sure there would be a lot more to do if I knew a lot more people…but my family and I just moved here…so things are new and different, but nonetheless interesting..

small town living

I’ve lived in Monroe my whole life. I went to public school there and loved it. It’s a small town which means there’s not much to do…but i’ve been to smaller ones that made you appreciate what you have. I moved away after marrying my Marine and higschool sweetheart. I miss it so much.

I'm here now

I’m at the Hurricane relief center for what’s called Event KR (Katrina-Rita) at a shelter. I’m supposed to be doing food services, but it looks like my geek skills are more needed here. So, I’m going to try to get reassigned.

Oh yeah, there is some sort of county fair/carnival here too now.

Monroe is one of those places that you hate while you’re growing up there but love once you realize it’s home. The easy access to beautiful outdoor places makes living here beautiful. Honestly though, if I didn’t love the people here, I would be looking for a quick way out.
