Lake Charles

A Great place if you want to 1) Gamble at a casino and have all over your money taken, or 2) Breathe the air form the refinerys and get some form of lung cancer!

I grew up there! And one day I’ll return to the area, but for now I’m out wondering around the world with my husband and the Army. I visit as often as I can, and it just keeps getting better with each visit!

The shopping is great and the Mardi Gras parade on Ryan Street is a lot of fun. Check out the small line of gift shops on Hodges Street just east of the intersection of Ryan and 18th downtown. Very cool stuff. The bakery across the street is also good. There are a number of good antique stores in town. Bazaar Treasures is also very inexpensive. They have jewelry and home decor.

Isle of Capri is fun. That beach area around the casinos looks fun, too. I used to like Harrah’s alot (great buffet, nice poker room) but I believe Rita destroyed it.

We stopped here to eat and take a piss. We went to the local wal-mart to stock up and asked the lady behind the counter where the freeway was. She stopped. Thought about it for several minutes and then said “you mean the Interstate?”.

It is the interstate! Not the freeway. Remember that at home kids.

I lived here for 2 weeks and was completely miserable (though this was probably due to the fact that I was evacuating from Hurricane Katrina). Sorry if I am insulting your hometown, but I absolutely hate(d) Lake Charles.

Have all my life!!!

I lived in Lake Charles for 2 years and went to school at McNeese. Lake Charles was a fun town for college kids! There’s something to do every night! :)

Also there were 2 (3 now) really fun casinos. Free drinks! (just remember to tip your bartender!! :P)
