my husband and i lived in gastonia for about 6 months. its not my sort of place. we felt completely uncomfortable. we were outsiders and it was difficult to ‘fit in’. mind you, we didn’t go into it with the most open mind. there are a bit of gastonia that really aren’t so bad, but its nowhere that i ever want to live again

Just kidding; my husband and all my in-laws are from/in Gastonia. Last occasion there was sad… would like to go back on a happier day. :)

I just moved to Gastonia. I used to think it was a little redneck town that I never wanted to go to. However, I met my husband, and he is from here. Need-less-to-say, I wound up here a few months ago because of that. I still do not know a lot of people here, and I still think it is a redneck town. However, now I think that it is a redneck town in a good way. Everyone wants to come up and talk to you. I am not used to that because I am from Winston-Salem and people do not do that there. I found out that there is a few random mountains here lol who knew? My husband took me on a trail to see one of them. It was called Crowders Mountain. It is absolutely beautiful!! Then he has taken me to a few lakes in the area. Lake Wylie and Moss Lake…Absolutely Breathtaking! It makes me proud to be from North Carolina. Moss Lake is a fairly small lake but it is soooo clean. I had never heard of it until I moved here!..
