Brevard

I went to Brevard in 2004 with friends. Went hiking, wandered around. Drank coffee in both coffee shops, and had excellent greasy pub food. I think this is the only small town I’ve ever been to, that I could live in.

Hawg Wild BBQ, near the Davidson River Campground—Best barbeque EVER. It was the first time I ever tasted the Eastern NC, vinegar-based variety, and I am now a huge fan.

If you’re a hiker, don’t miss the trail to Looking Glass Rock. Strenuous, but a view at the top that’s worth it. About 2.5-3 miles each way.

Also, for tamer entertainment, a tube trip down the river is nice.

Great place to visit, (make sure to hit Dolly’s, go tubing on the Davidson, eat lunch at Big Mikes, and yes, even gawk at a few white squirrels), but don’t go to college there. $100k dollars later you’ll wonder what you were thinking :)

I’ve been to Brevard several times, both for camp and driving though while on vacation. One of my favorite places is Sliding Rock, in Pisgah Forest.
