I have done about 80 miles starting in Oklahoma City and headed west. I had a King and Onion rings at Sids in El Reno about 10 miles west of OKC. If you are thirsty try the chocolate milkshake they will build one for you right there on the counter. Friendly folk and a real treat to eat. The only road in America that I can drive 55 and maybe even a little slower… Get your kicks, oh yeah!! on route 66…

go here

yes it sounds cliche, but when you get off the interstate and see some of the buildings, it really is a land that time forgot. You see amazing/tacky architecture and wonderful things. It is something you just have to see for yourself.

Why I want to go to this place

This is a recent obsession, but when I finally get my driver’s license, I’d love to take one of my best friends with me and travel all of Route 66. I just think it would be a fun change of pace. :)

What I want to do at this place

Technically I have been here, I’ve driven by the sign that says “Begin Route 66” but using 66 in downtown Chicago is NOT what I consider accomplishing this goal for 43P. I want to drive at least 2 hours West sometime, then come back a day later and click the “I have been here” button.. because if theres Chicago skyscrapers nearby, you are not “on the road”

great sights

when you have love for abandoned buildings, this is a wonderful drive. stopped at a mexican diner in New Mexico, and found out what real mexican food was like. not mild, hot, or fire, but red or green sauce. very educational. : )
