Fort Polk

It really blows. Everything closes on post at about 1900, that includes the PX, commissary, and most eateries. There’s nothing outside post to write home about either.

but this is about as close to hell as I would ever want to get.

I will say, the wild horses are a wonderful memory.

All there was to do was watch the grass grow in the 8 months of bayou-hell I lived in this town. Rightfully called the “Armpit of the Army”...

I wouldn’t want to judge the rest of the state by just this one spot.

I lived here when I was a kid. I can’t really say what it’s like as an adult.

They do have wild horses running on those lands there. And a community of Choctaw within fifty miles, to the east.
