After two years waiting to go, today my boyfriend and I spent the day in Glendalough. It was amazing! and even more, we´re lucky with a gorgeous day!

I was amazed at the unspoiled nature in this place!! I really did!
Also the scones in the Glendalough inn were quite delicious. Just about the best I tried in Ireland!
The lakes… :)
And also try to hug the Kevin’s Cross. If you can completely hug the cross while making a wish, it’ll come true!

Nice for hiking, even when you’re not one of the best hikers. It’s one of the (few?) places where they’ve paved the way for you. It’s not just climbing and walking through some mud, but you can actually follow a clear path. Not very adventurous, but nice for families.
A bit too touristy though.

I went to Ireland for Thanksgiving weekend when I was at Oxford (we had to convince our tutors to give us a holiday off; one tutor complained about the turkey tradition, saying it was ‘dry’ and we’d be ‘better off with a nice game hen’). We spent most of our time in Dublin, but took a trip to Glendalough. I loved it- the monestery, the cemetery… and I was able to touch my fingers while hugging St. Kevin’s Cross, and my wish actually sort of did come true. ;)

We visited St. Kevin’s Monastery, which was very interesting, and the scenery throughout the area was amazing.

An ancient Christain site, St Kevin founded this monastery in a wonderful valley between 2 lakes (the name means Glen of two lakes). A must see folks!

Though I really think that Scotland is more beautiful than Ireland, I must say that Glendalough is REALLY MAGICAL. Don’t know why, maybe because of the celtic cemetery, maybe because of the waterfall… dunno, but you must go there…

Peaceful and beautiful, but I remember the scones in Roundtree best…
