good hipster bars. cute little diners. close to lots of things in LA. good place.

Sure, the hipsters are thick on the ground at points, but since I’m complaining about them that must mean I am one. Mysterious. Anyway, just go to the Red Lion Tavern and have a drink, is what I say.

At least, it is one of the corners of L.A. least like most people’s images of L.A. It’s hilly, a combination of bungalows from the 30’s and 40’s and assorted odd shops and small businesses. Also some of the best inexpensive restaurants in the city are here.

It has, if you will, a Berkeley-ish feel with a Latin twist.
