is now a fairly overgrown suburb, but still, it has all the elements you need, arts at Montpelier, history at the Laurel Museum, music in the summer at the 8th Street paviliion (McCully Field, I think they call it). Plenty of shopping, restaurants, BUT, the county just passed a NO SMOKING law that is in effect even in bars. Otherwise nice and central to any visit to Maryland, 25 miles from Baltimore, 25 miles from DC, and 20 miles from Annapolis. Don’t forget to wave to the firemen!
