Akumal

Akumal is beautiful and has pretty good diving but there’s not much to do here. My kids were swarmed by fire ants, there are very few places to eat, hotels are spendy, I’ll take Playa or Tulum any day.

Very…very relaxing! Small town with great locals, interesting culture compared to what I’m used to. Some of the best beaches around too! Met a guy who was working at my resort who was really helpful and friendly, and we’ve stayed in touch and continued to be friends! Great people…umm for the most part. As with lots of mexico, you may find yourself not getting what you asked for. Don’t be afraid to slip a few bills to the person, things MAGICALLY work out how you wanted them to…odd isn’t it? hehe. Also I stayed at a small resort, and it wasn’t in the best shape (mind you, all four of us had an awful stomach flew that we picked up the DAY before we left for mexico…) We heard of the bigger places being cleaner, but whatever! Great place to visit, and nobody knows about it!!!

Akumal is a pretty short drive down from Cancun. We flew into Cancun, rented a car, and were in Akumal in about an hour or so. The area is pretty quiet, very “vacation home” feel to it, versus the rampant, cosmo tourism of Cancun. Most of the units on the beach are condos, so you feel pretty at home. The bay is great for snorkeling and diving. I would love to go back.

I went for New Year’s vacation! It was a pleasant vacation! Nice, quiet, delicious food and nice environment!!

Nice beaches, more laid-back and quiet than Cancun.

...snorkeling, people, food…Tulum is just down the road, too. Been 10 years since I’ve bene here, and I’m ready to go back.

Now my wife and I needed a good vacation. Akumal turned out to be the most stunning place I have ever seen. We partied and ate well. we overslept, burned our backs, snorkled, and I stepped on a sea urchin, even with all that it was the best… so romantic. I can’t praise it enough
